A recent event on a long-haul flight has stirred up a lot of discussion about what’s fair for passengers and how they should behave. The debate started when a plus-size woman chose not to give up her second seat, which she paid for, to a toddler.
The 34-year-old woman, who is on the heavier side, had booked two seats for herself. She did this because she’s had trouble fitting into just one seat before. But then, during the flight, a mom asked her to “squeeze into one seat” so her young son could use the other.
The woman didn’t shy away from talking about her weight and shared details about the incident.

She pointed out that the toddler, only 18 months old, didn’t actually need his own seat and could have just sat on his mom’s lap.

Other people on the flight saw what was happening.

The woman said she got “dirty looks” and heard “passive-aggressive remarks” from others during the trip.
